Mobile and smart phones and tablets are a basic necessity of today’s lifestyle which was not so evident when Finland Post and Telegraph Administration (Posti- ja Lennätinhallitus) started to plan the Autoradiopuhelin (ARP) car phone service in mid 1960’s. Hardly anybody understood those days that this groundbreaking decision resulted to international revolution of mobile telephony changing people’s life. This documentary tells the story of the greatest revolution since industrial revolution by the entrepreneurs of the industry.

This was also the beginning of Mobira and Nokia success story.

Kari Ahola

Kari had over thirty years international career in Nokia networks business across Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific. He left Nokia in 2010 to start his own investment business in Singapore and Finland (Aloha Pacific Pte Ltd/ Oy). His business focus is in property and start up company investments. He also produces documentary films, for example short sports documentaries. The latest documentary ‘Bearing Good Tidings’ was released in august 2016. ‘Bearing Good Tidings’ tells the story of mobile telephone industry, how it started in 1960’s and became the biggest revolution since the industrial revolution. Kari is married to Eloise Ahola and has three adult children and two grandchildren.

Jouko Häyrynen

Jouko Häyrynen (1957) has over 25 years experience in wireless telecom industry in Asia/Pacific and the Gulf markets from the very first steps of the cellular telephony and wireless internet. Jouko worked in Nokia Ltd. till the end of 2003 and after that over 10 years as a business consultant, board member and a private investor in several new tecnology start-ups, e.g. in semiconductor development, solar energy, mobile services and advanced sensor systems (a.k.a. IoT) serving markets in Europe, Asia and Africa. Jouko is married and lives in Finland.

Markus Leppälä

Markus Leppälä is 33-year-old Helsinki based filmmaker. He holds a Master ́s degree in Arts majoring in film editing. Markus works as a freelance film editor in both film and tv.

Aarne Tapola

Aarne Tapola is a cinematographer born in 1980. He has studied in University of Art and Design Helsinki, Film and Television department majoring in cinematography. Tapola has shot feature films, documentaries, short films, commercials, music videos, TV-series and video installations both in Finland and around the world.

Nokia Networksin alumnit keräävät varoja maailmanluokan perustutkimuksen hyväksi. Lahjoitukseen osallistutaan myös omakustanteisen elokuvan tuotolla.

Tänään Elisa Viihteessä julkaistava ”Hyvän viestin tuojat” kertoo Nokian askelista matkapuhelinalalla 1960-luvulta 1990-luvun alkuvuosiin. Omakustanteisen elokuvan tuotot ohjataan Helsingin yliopiston tutkimuksen tueksi. Tutkimusta tukee myös vasta perustettu Nokia Networks Alumni Fund. Yksi Helsingin yliopiston keskeisistä ja kansainvälisesti korkeatasoisista tutkimusaloista on syöpä.

Nokia-konkari laittoi dokumenttiprojektin alulle - elokuvan tuotot ohjataan syöpätutkimukseen

Elokuvassa haastatellaan muun muassa Jorma U. Niemistä, joka oli Mobiran toimitusjohtaja 1970- ja 80-luvuilla, sekä Kari-Pekka Wilskaa, joka toimi Nokian johtajana samoina vuosikymmeninä sekä Mobiran varatoimitusjohtajana. Lisäksi suunvuoron saavat jokuset muut alan uranuurtajat.
Elokuvan tuotot ohjataan Helsingin yliopiston syöpätutkimuksen tukemiseen. Tuotot päätettiin ohjata tieteellisen tutkimuksen tukemiseen, koska Matti Makkonen menehtyi syöpään elokuvanteon aikana. Lisäksi sairauden kanssa on taistellut monet muutkin elokuvantekijöiden kollegat.

Matkapuhelinalan alkuvuosista on julkaistu uusi dokumenttielokuva. Hyvän viestin tuojat kertoo matkapuhelinalan askelista 1960-luvulta 1990-luvun alkuvuosiin.
Elokuvaidean takana on Kari Ahola, joka toimi yli kolmekymmentä vuotta Nokian palveluksessa vuoteen 2010 saakka.

Joulukuun alussa sai jo ensi-iltansa toinen dokumenttielokuva ”Hyvän viestin tuojat” Elisan viihdekanavalla.
